The information, applications, and deadlines for our 2012 scholarships have been made available. We are excited to announce three scholarship opportunities available for the 2012-2013 school year.

Cyber Security Scholarship

The Cyber Security scholarship is awarded annually to one high school senior or undergraduate college student who is currently or has attended high school in a rural community. In order to be considered for this scholarship, the applicant must demonstrate an interest in cyber security. The student must also be planning to attend college to pursue a degree in a computer technology related field, or already doing so as part of an undergraduate degree program. This scholarship is awarded based upon answers to a series of essay questions that are designed to gauge the student’s passion for his or her intended career in cyber security as well as the student’s sense of citizenship and pride in their rural community. This scholarship is awarded in the amount of $2500.00.

Judith A. Sanders Memorial Scholarship

The Judith A. Sanders Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a student from the rural community of Graves County in Western Kentucky. In order to be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must currently be attending Graves County High School or Mayfield High School as a senior. The student must also be planning to attend college to pursue a degree in a computer technology related field. This scholarship is awarded based upon answers to a series of essay questions that are designed to gauge the student’s passion for his or her intended career in computer technology as well as the student’s sense of citizenship and pride in their rural community. This scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1000.00.

Kentucky Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) Scholarship

The Kentucky Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) Scholarship is open to students from schools in Kentucky who have a passion for using technology skills to make a positive social change in the world or at home in their communities. In order to be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must currently be attending a rural high school as a senior in the state of Kentucky and be an active member of their schools STLP. Additionally, the student must also be planning to attend college to pursue a degree in a computer technology related field. This scholarship is awarded based upon answers to a series of essay questions that are designed to gauge the student’s passion for his or her intended career in computer technology as well as the student’s sense of citizenship and pride in their rural community. This scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1000.00.

2011 Judith A. Sanders Memorial Scholarship Awarded

The Board of Directors of the Rural Technology Fund are pleased to have announced that Zachary Doughty, a 2011 Graves County High School graduate has been awarded the Judith A. Sanders Memorial Scholarship for the 2011 -2012 academic year in the amount of $1000.00.

Mr. Doughty is planning on attending West Kentucky Community and Technical College and is majoring in Computer Information Systems. He was selected to receive the JAS Memorial Scholarship based upon his exceptional responses to several essay questions designed to gauge interest and passion for a future career in computer technology. The Judith A. Sanders Memorial Scholarship is an annual scholarship awarded to a Graves County High School senior pursuing further education in computer technology.

2011 KY STLP Scholarship Awarded

The Board of Directors of the Rural Technology Fund are pleased to have announced that Jason Eric Fite, a 2011 Bourbon County High School graduate has been awarded the Kentucky Student Technology Leadership Program (KY STLP) Scholarship for the 2011 -2012 academic year in the amount of $500.00.

Mr. Fite is planning on attending Eastern Kentucky University and will be majoring in Network Security and Electronics. He was selected to receive the KY STLP Scholarship based upon his exceptional responses to several essay questions designed to gauge interest and passion for a future career in computer technology. The KY STLP Scholarship is an annual scholarship awarded to a Kentucky senior who is an active member in his/her local STLP chapter and is planning to pursue further education in computer technology.

2011 Scholarship Deadlines Posted

The deadlines for the 2011 RTF Scholarships have been posted. We will once again be giving away two scholarships. The Judith A. Sanders Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a student from a school in Graves County, Kentucky who is pursuing higher education in the area of computer technology. The second will be awarded to a student from any high school in the state of Kentucky who is actively involved with his/her local STLP chapter. (Bowling Green, KY) — The Board of Directors of the Rural Technology Fund have announced that Cassidy McAlpin, a 2009 Graves County High School graduate and resident of Sedalia, KY has been awarded the Judith A. Sanders Memorial Scholarship for the 2009 -2010 academic year in the amount of $500.00.
