The Rural Technology Fund are proud partners with Code.org and we’re super excited to hear about Mrs. Moerlien’s project to pair robotics along with Code.org curriculum. Mrs. Moerlien puts it best of course:
I am so excited to use Dash and the accessories to bring coding to life in my classroom. Makey Makey is perfect for the classroom. Students can invent projects that combine the tactile materials of the classroom with the coding projects they’re creating on the computer to bring their creations to life.
With the Makey Makey, students will be able to make any conductive material act as the input device for a computer. Because it comes preprogrammed, students with no coding experience can use it and learn to experiment with it as they start to learn coding.
Mrs. Moerlien describes her 16 elementary school students as “creative, clever and very spontaneous.” STEAM education couldn’t be better suited for such a wonderful group of kids. Combining the Dash robot and tactile circuits that students build with the Makey Makey really brings to life the power of technology and coding for students. You can just see all of the different fun experiments they’ve been conducting!
